What is a Digital Device?
- Smartphones: Portable devices for calling, messaging, apps, and internet.
- Tablets: Larger screen devices great for reading, watching videos, and browsing.
- Computers: Desktop or laptops, useful for typing, video calls, and internet research.
Turning Devices On and Off
Smartphones/Tablets: Press and hold the power button to turn on or off. On screen, select “Power off” to shut down.
Computers: Press the power button, or use Start menu > Shut down.
Connecting to Wi-Fi
To access the internet, connect your device to a Wi-Fi network:
- Open Settings.
- Find “Wi-Fi” and turn it on.
- Select your network name.
- Enter the password if needed.
- Your device will remember this network for next time.
Common Touchscreen Gestures
- Tap: Select or open an app.
- Swipe: Move left/right/up/down to navigate.
- Pinch: Zoom in/out on pictures or text.
- Press and hold: Open options like moving or deleting items.
Staying Safe Online
- Never share your passwords.
- Be cautious opening emails or links.
- Use device security settings and antivirus apps.
- Keep software updated.
